Tim started taking piano lessons at the age of 8. "My mother made us (Terry and I) and being hyperactive, wanting to be outside all the time, it was very painful to sit and practice an instrument that usually women and girls played back in the 60's." It was not until 6 embarrassing recital years later, while on family vacation, that things would change. "In 1973 on vacation I heard Elton John's just released "Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me" on the radio and couldn't wait to get home." This was a turning point, and the piano became an obsessive energy center. One year later, Terry (drums), Mark Long (guitar), and Tim (piano) played the Jr. High Talent Show and after that formed the band "Cloudburst" with Terry, Mark Van Englenhoven (bass),and Mick Kindley (guitar) and played all the way through high school until 1979. After a few short runs with some other local bands, Alliance was formed as a 4-man band playing the 70's and 80's top 40 rock until the mid 1980's. After that, Tim had a DJ service called Dr. Jam Man for 10 years. In the mid 90's he became a youth choir director and then moved into the adult choir director position shortly after. He also plays in the praise and worship band at his church. In 1999, Chris Roberts (guitar), brother Terry and Tim got together again to play at the State Fair Terry and the band was reborn. Tim attended 1 year at Indian Hills in 1984 in music. He would like to focus on song writting and recording soon but has yet to quit his day job putting in long hours at the family owned business, Fred's Muffler Shop in Oskaloosa. Stop in and say hello!
